Graduate students Anil Mandal and Ajay Thapa from the Department of Civil, Geomatics, and Environmental Engineering presented their research at the American Water Resources Association (AWRA) Florida Technical Meeting on October 3, 2025, in West Palm Beach.

Their presentation, “PyWMP: Simplifying Flood Modeling with Extensible Workflows,” introduced an open-source, Python-based platform designed to streamline flood modeling through automated data processing, model execution, and visualization.

Developed under 太阳城娱乐’s Center for Water Resiliency and Risk Reduction (CWR³) , PyWMP supports the objectives of FEMA’s National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) by improving accessibility and efficiency in watershed modeling. A key feature currently in development is AI-driven calibration, which aims to enhance model accuracy and reduce manual adjustments.
