The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Florida Atlantic University in Jupiter will present a lecture by Terry Virts, a retired United States air force colonel and a veteran of two spaceflights, along with a 200-day flight in the Space Station, on Wednesday, March 4 at 7 p.m. in the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute complex at 太阳城娱乐’s John D. MacArthur Campus, 5353 Parkside Dr., in Jupiter.

Virts’ lecture, “An Astronaut’s Life on the International Space Station,” will share stories about his seven months in space, which included three spacewalks, piloting the space shuttle, performing scientific experiments and working closely with multiple international partners, including the Russian Space Agency cosmonauts. Virts also will share images from his book, “View from Above,” which is a National Geographic work that combines photographs from space with stories that share the experience of spaceflight, perspectives on life on earth and our place in the cosmos.

Virts was educated at the U.S. Air Force Academy and was an applied mathematics major and French minor. He also was educated at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and the Harvard Business School. He recently directed the record-breaking, “One More Orbit” world circumnavigation flight and documentary. This flight achieved the GuinnessWorld Records’ title for fastest aerial circumnavigation of the Earth in a time of 46 hours and 40 minutes.

Tickets are $35 for members and $45 for non-members. For more information, contact the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at 561-799-8547 or visit www.fau.edu/osherjupiter.
